Advanced Features - Services

Modify the Advanced Settings on a Service including the build version, region, anti-affinity keys, language tags, and auto-stop value.

The Advanced Settings for a Service are now part of Step 1: General Settings in the Create Service Wizard.

To access the Advanced Settings, navigate to Step 1: General Settings when creating or editing a Service, and click the Advanced Settings dropdown on the page.

This will expand the section and display additional configuration options.

Make any necessary changes and click Continue to save and proceed to the next step.

Build Version: Indicates the build the Service will use when started. If multiple builds have been made available to your account, you will be able to select the build the Service should use when started.

Region: Indicates the AWS region your Service will run in. Use the drop down to select between the available options.

Anti-affinity key: A unique string that can be used in two Services to ensure that they run concurrently in different data centers for resiliency and redundancy. Enter the same value in this field on two different Services to ensure they are deployed in separate availability zones on the same instance.

Language Tags: Specify how language options are labeled in manifests and streams. They can appear in English, their native language or a custom value. Available options include

    • English - Languages display in English (e.g., "Spanish", "French")
    • Native - Languages display in their native language (e.g., "Español", "Français")
    • Custom - Define your own custom labels for each language (e.g., "Español (LATAM)")

NOTE: Selecting Custom enables the Output label field in the Transcription and Translation steps, allowing you to define personalized language names for your HLS output streams. For detailed instructions, see Can I customize labels for HLS Output?

Auto Stop: Allows you to automatically stop a Service without manual intervention. This can help prevent Services from running longer than intended. Toggle this setting "On" to enable automatic stopping for the Service.

TIP: Using Auto Stop helps avoid unnecessary active service runtime charges by automatically stopping Services that are no longer streaming.

Auto Stop type: Select the condition that will trigger the automatic stop:

    • Stream Disconnect: The Service will stop after the incoming stream has been disconnected for a specified period of time.
    • Service Runtime: The Service will stop once it has been running for the set duration.

Auto Stop Duration: Specify the amount of time (in minutes) the system should wait before stopping the Service based on the selected Auto Stop Type. 30 minutes is typically enough time for most live streams.
