Introducing the New Default Services UI

After several months in beta,  our new Services UI is now the default for most customers. This article outlines what’s changed and how to create, manage, and migrate services going forward.

Today, we are making our new Services UI v2 the default for most customers. This UI has been available in beta for several months and will already be familiar to many of you. It has also been the default for API-authored services, as it is API-friendly and compatible with services created via the API, unlike our original Services UI.

Below is a summary of what’s changing and how you can create, manage, and migrate services going forward.

New Listing View

The Services listing view now displays additional metadata and allows you to start and stop services directly without navigating into each service individually.

API-Friendly by Design

Services can now be authored, updated, and managed seamlessly across both the UI and the API. Each service includes an API Payload, which can be used to recreate or clone services programmatically via the API.

Streamlined Service Authoring in 5 Steps

Instead of configuring everything on a single page, services are now authored through a guided, five-step workflow:

  • General
  • Input Media
  • Transcription
  • Translations
  • Outputs
Generated URLs and ports become available once the service is created.

Feature Parity Plus Greater Control

We delayed making the new UI the default until full feature parity was achieved. All options available in the legacy UI are supported, along with many new configuration options that were previously only accessible in coordination with SyncWords staff.

Dictionaries, Glossaries, and Post-Processing Dictionaries

Dictionaries, glossaries, and post-processing dictionaries are now managed exclusively at the organization level. Any updates made in organization settings automatically apply to all services. Service-level creation and editing of these resources has been removed.

Legacy Services

Services created using the legacy UI cannot be edited in the new Services UI. These services are marked with a clock icon in the listing view and will continue to open and remain editable in the legacy UI for now.

Migrating Legacy Services

We recommend migrating legacy services by either -

  • Recreating them in the new Services UI, or

  • Contacting our team to automate bulk migration

IMPORTANT: Migrated services will receive newly generated URLs and ports, to be used with the service.
